Infracapital, M&G’s infrastructure private equity investment arm, has acquired a stake in BCP Metering - a leading provider of sub‑metering and billing services in Germany – alongside existing investor, B Capital Partners (B Capital).
BCP Metering installs and provides long-term rental of sub-metering equipment to multi-tenanted residential schemes and property management companies. Its services enable accurate monitoring and management of energy usage and costs for landlords and tenants, supporting more efficient energy consumption as well as decarbonisation. The business operates in the German market, which has strong long-term growth potential, largely driven by the ongoing digitalisation of the grid and overall energy infrastructure including residential.
The investment will support BCP Metering’s next phase of growth, building on the substantial progress made to date by B Capital. B Capital and Infracapital will continue to pursue a consolidation strategy in a highly fragmented sub-metering provider market, further scaling the platform through organic growth and targeted acquisitions alongside BCP Metering’s management team.
The investment is being made through Infracapital Partners IV and reflects the continued deployment of capital into a diversified portfolio of essential infrastructure assets across Europe. Infracapital has a strong track record of investment in energy and utilities, including supporting smart energy infrastructure through investments such as its former ownership of the UK-based Calvin Capital (now known as Calisen Metering).
Herman Deetman, Managing Director at Infracapital, said: “BCP Metering operates in an established and resilient segment of the infrastructure market, with strong underlying demand driven by greater transparency requirements and digitalisation. We look forward to supporting the company at an exciting stage of its development as it delivers on its growth strategy and continues to build its position in the German market.”
Dr. Barbara Weber, Founding Partner at B Capital Partners, said: “We are delighted to welcome Infracapital as a strategic partner at an important stage in the platform’s development. With strong growth momentum, an active acquisition pipeline and supportive dynamics in Germany, the business is well positioned to continue its expansion.”
